'Celebrity Bagging for United Way' on Nov. 24 looking for volunteers for Washington County, Tenn., Food City locations

Food City will host a special “Celebrity Bagging for United Way” event on Tuesday, Nov. 24, and organizers are looking for volunteers to help out in the Washington County, Tenn., market.

Volunteers are needed at Food City’s Washington County locations to work two-hour shifts between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., along with “celebrity” volunteers, to greet customers and bag groceries. Donation canisters will be located at each register.

“We’re excited to partner again with Food City to do this event,” said Lester Lattany, president and CEO of the United Way of Washington County, Tennessee. “Our local ‘celebrities’ have a great time bagging groceries for Food City customers, and it raises money for local campaigns that will benefit the community health and human service organizations that partner with the United Way.”

Store locations in Washington County are:

  • 2120 S. Roan St., Johnson City
  • 920 N. State of Franklin Road, Johnson City
  • 500 Forest Drive, Jonesborough
  • 4307 N. Roan St., Boones Creek
  • 125 Judge Gresham Road, Gray

Anyone from Mountain States who’s interested in volunteering should call the United Way of Washington County, Tennessee at 423-282-5682.
