Fit4Life offering free yoga sessions as way to promote stress relief

Mountain States’ Fit4Life wellness program is offering a free yoga session at three locations in January, with a goal of getting team members introduced to some of the simple, quick exercises of yoga that can help relieve stress – even during the workday.

The half-hour sessions will be led by Nidia Williams and are free to Mountain States team members. One of the classes will be videotaped and edited into short segments, to be made available on the Fit4Life site on the intranet so team members can access it at any time.

The schedule for the sessions is:

Jan. 6

The Wellness Center – Noon-12:30 p.m., Studio A

Jan. 16

Johnson City Medical Center – Noon-12:30 p.m., Niswonger Room 2

Jan. 26

Indian Path Medical Center – Noon-12:30 p.m., Cherokee Room

“The Fit4Life program focuses on all aspects of wellness, not just the exercise part of it,” said Amanda Clough, group fitness coordinator and child care coordinator at The Wellness Center. “It’s the mind, body and spirit – about overall fitness and wellness. The holiday season can be stressful for people and we hope yoga is something that helps them relieve stress.

“This will be the gentle-flow style of yoga, not the intense poses. Some of it will be breathing exercises for stress relief that you could even do at your desk at work.”

The Wellness Center is located on Med Tech Parkway in Johnson City, right next to Franklin Woods Community Hospital and next to North State of Franklin Road.

For those interested in regular yoga sessions, classes are scheduled at The Wellness Center four times a week, and once a week at Franklin Health and Fitness in Elizabethton.
