Niswonger Children's Hospital Radiothon coming up Feb. 27-28; here's how you can participate

SAVE THE DATE: The Niswonger Children’s Hospital Radiothon is coming up Feb. 27-28, including a full day of live radio broadcast on the 28th from the hospital lobby.

The radiothon will be broadcast live on four of Holston Valley Broadcasting Corporation’s radio stations (98.5 WTFM, 95.9 The Hog WRZK, Classic Hits 102.7 WVEK, and ESPN Tri-Cities) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, and donations will be accepted all day.

On Tuesday, Feb. 28, the radio team and phone bank teams made up of volunteers will be set up in the lobby of Niswonger Children’s Hospital as well as at Indian Path Medical Center in Kingsport and Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon. The teams will receive and make calls for donations.

What can you do as a team member to support the radiothon?

  • Join a radiothon team.
  • Start a radiothon team.
  • Volunteer at the radiothon to call your family and friends about donating.
  • Donate to Niswonger Children’s Hospital.

Past funds raised through the radiothon have purchased critical items for Niswonger Children’s Hospital, like a pediatric ambulance, incubators, syringe pumps and other supplies for the neonatal intensive care unit. Also, donations from last year’s radiothon are being used to create a special unit inside the children’s hospital that’s dedicated to caring for babies who are born with neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS). That unit is scheduled to open in April 2017.
