Mountain States, JC Medical Center ranked nationally for medical excellence, patient safety

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The quality care delivered by nurses, doctors and team members at Mountain States hospitals is producing clinical results that are among the best in the nation, according to an independent evaluator.

Mountain States Health Alliance and Johnson City Medical Center have earned national recognitions from CareChex®, an information service of Quantros, Inc., which evaluates health care systems.

The 2017 CareChex quality awards rank Mountain States 9th in the country for medical excellence in cardiac care and 11th for heart attack treatment.

Ranked in the top 10 percent nationally for medical excellence in cardiac care, heart attack treatment and pulmonary care, Mountain States is listed among the top health care systems in the country. CareChex also ranked Mountain States in the top 10 percent for patient safety in overall hospital care.

The data used was compiled over a two-year period. CareChex’s quality rating system is designed to assist hospitals and health systems in improving the quality of inpatient care and promoting medical excellence. CareChex looks at all three components of medical quality – process of care, outcomes of care and patient satisfaction.

CareChex provides a continuum of quality of awards ranging from national to regional levels of achievement for up to 13 categories. Mountain States was recognized in several of the categories.

Johnson City Medical Center – Mountain States’ flagship hospital – also earned national recognitions from CareChex.

The hospital is ranked nationally in the top 10 percent for a number of medical excellence and patient safety categories, including stroke care, heart attack treatment and pulmonary care. Johnson City Medical Center is listed in the top 100 hospitals in the country for medical excellence in cardiac care, heart attack treatment, and va scular surgery.

CareChex ranked Johnson City Medical Center No. 1 in the state for medical excellence in cardiac care, heart attack treatment, vascular surgery and interventional coronary care.
