Get involved: Komen Race for the Cure coming up May 13
KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Komen Tri-Cities Race for the Cure is coming up May 13 to support the fight against breast cancer, and once again Mountain States will be joining the fight.
Mountain States is serving as a local sponsor for the event, which will take place at Dobyns-Bennett High School’s J. Fred Johnson Stadium, 1625 Fort Henry Drive.
The 5K Race/1-Mile Walk at 9:30 a.m. is the main event but it’s only a part of the full morning of activities. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and the event concludes with the Co-Survivor Ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Mountain States will have members of our Regional Cancer Centers and Triumph navigator teams manning a tent at the event.
Mountain States team members are encouraged to join an existing team, start a team, or register as an individual. As a sponsor, Mountain States is allotted a certain number of complimentary entries for Adult or Survivor Untimed types. Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Series is the world’s largest and most successful education and fundraising event for breast cancer ever created. The event raises significant funds and awareness for the breast cancer movement, celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.
This race is unique in the fact that 100 percent of the net proceeds are allocated to Komen’s mission.
