Mountain States now offering new benefit to help deal with student loan debt

Student debt is a major problem for millions of Americans, even years after they finish college. If you’re one of them, don’t despair – help is on the way! Mountain States is offering a new program to assist team members in reducing student loan debt, starting July 1, 2017.

The cost of the program is covered by Mountain States and is being offered as a benefit through a service called Student Loan Genius, which offers one-on-one advice on student loans and helps people figure out the best approach to try to reduce loan payments, pay off loans early or consolidate loans. NOTE: Student Loan Genius works with companies across the country to help their employees with student loans, but is NOT a company that sells a product.

The service is available to the first 1,000 team members to sign up. Register by going to the Student Loan Genius page on the Mountain States intranet.

Mountain States did a recent survey and found that nearly 64 percent of respondents said they do have student debt, including some who have been with the organization for many years.

Nationwide studies show the problem is expected to keep growing. The average amount of student loan debt is more than $37,000, and the average monthly student loan payment is $548. People often postpone buying a house, having a family or saving for retirement because of their student loan debt.
