NORA, Va. – A group of team members from Dickenson Community Hospital recently donated their time and efforts to help students in need at Ervinton Elementary School by participating in The United Way’s backpack weekend feeding initiative.

Team members picked up food from the local Food City store and helped package the food into bags and in large plastic totes. The totes were then delivered to the school where the teachers send home a bag each week to students who are in need of assistance with their meals at home. The team members volunteered for the Oct. 11 distribution.

“It’s an honor for the hospital’s team to have the opportunity to work with the United Way for the Backpack Project,” said Mark Vanover, AVP for operations at Dickenson Community Hospital. “This benefits children right here in our community, and to have a hand in an event that positively impacts their lives is something we appreciate being a part of.”
