MARION, Va. – There was a fond farewell to Dr. Ramzi Humsi, longtime OB/GYN specialist, who retired in December after performing more than 6,000 births during his medical career.

He practiced with Mountain States Medical Group – Gynecology, Marion.

Smyth County Community Hospital held a retirement celebration for Dr. Humsi in the River Ridge Cafe, attended by many of the nurses, office staff and retired physicians with whom he worked. James Tyler, VP/CEO at Smyth County Community Hospital, thanked Dr. Humsi for his service and presented him with a clock.

Here are more photos from the retirement celebration.

“Dr. Humsi is retiring from many years of service to the women of Smyth County,” Tyler said. “All of the team members of Smyth County Community Hospital want to thank him for all he has done professionally and personally!”

One of his former staff members, Melissa Smith, spoke about the memories she made while working for him. Dr. Humsi shared some of this favorite memories from his time working at Smyth County Community Hospital and his clinic, and spoke about how much he would miss his work family. Originally from Lebanon (the country, not the town in Virginia!), Dr. Humsi said the hospitality of the people is what he has enjoyed the most about living in this region.
